JAMES E. REDENBO President and Chief Executive Officer

The ROSS Agency, Inc. was founded in 1993 by James E. Redenbo and William O'Sullivan. Both Messrs. Redenbo and O'Sullivan are retired executive command officers with the Illinois State Police. Both are graduates of the FBI National Academy.   James E. Redenbo is the President, chief executive officer and co-owner of the ROSS Agency, Inc. In 1993, he founded the ROSS Agency, following a twenty-three year career with the Illinois State Police. He retired from the state police at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.   In addition to directing the business affairs of the ROSS Agency, Mr. Redenbo manages the agency’s subject location, due diligence, pre-employment background, and asset location investigations.   For the last fifteen years of his public service career, Mr. Redenbo held senior management positions in the state law enforcement community. Within the state police, these assignments included assistant deputy director of the Divisions of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Services and Identification. His investigative career was concentrated in the areas of financial crimes and fraud.   From 1985 to 1991, Mr. Redenbo served in senior executive positions with the Office of the Illinois Secretary of State while on leave of absence from the state police. During his tenure as deputy director and chief of enforcement for the Illinois Securities Department, he implemented a professional enforcement program to investigate and detect fraud in the securities industry. He later served as the Secretary of State’s first inspector general. As inspector general, Mr. Redenbo directed the oversight of the agency's twenty-two departments to ensure compliance with state legal requirements. He also directed all employee misconduct investigations and managed the agency's internal audit program.  After entering the private sector, Mr. Redenbo served for seven years on the Illinois Private Detective, Private Alarm, Private Security, and Locksmith Board.  This board is responsible for assisting and advising  the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in matters related to the licensing and disciplining of private detectives, private alarm contractors, private security contractors, and locksmiths in Illinois.  By statute, only two private detectives serve on the board.    Mr. Redenbo is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University and has undertaken graduate study at the University of Illinois - Springfield and the University of Virginia.
